General Information
Our rates apply to one or two persons per room and include an excellent full breakfast.
Additional persons will be charged at $10/night. All rates are subject to state and local taxes of 8.05%.
We guarantee exclusively assigned bathrooms for individual rooms booked. Groups may book up to six rooms with four shared baths.
All of our beds are of high quality with plush bedding.
The Simpson is a smoke-free hotel.
Regarding breakfast:
We happily cater to our guests' dietary needs and preferences. And we stress fresh, locally grown or produced foods as much as we are able (see our “Green Hotel” statement).
Regarding animals:
Two cats reside at the Simpson. While we don’t allow them in the guest rooms, they are sometimes out and about in the hallways and parlor. Therefore we cannot guarantee a dander-free environment in the shared areas of the building. We will consider visiting dogs on a case-by-case basis, restricted to the Miners Room and requiring a $50 refundable cleaning deposit.
Ground Floor Rooms
"The Miner's Room" $80
– is a cozy, traditional room with a bathroom with generous tiled shower two steps down the hallway. It has a luxurious antique iron double bed, a dresser, two chairs and a bench.
Families or groups wishing to book a second downstairs room sharing the same bathroom may reserve the second Miner's Room at the same rate. Please call us if you need help in booking both rooms together, as we may block online access to the second room.
“The Old Library Room” $90
– This converted small storefront adjacent to the hotel has been renovated and expanded to include a simple kitchenette. It has a small corner shower. Like our other rooms, it is full of antiques, and has a luxurious double bed.
Second Floor Rooms
"The Cormac Room" $90
– a traditional corner room with a small desk, antique dresser, antique four-poster bed and a “spare” (single bed).
“The East Room” $105
– This spacious corner room with two double beds with antique iron frames catches the morning sun. It also features an antique writing desk and a corner table and chairs. A lovely old fireplace (no longer functioning) is another feature.
These two rooms are assigned a bathroom with stall shower down the hall. For individual room reservations, we will book only one of the two rooms at a time to preserve private use of that bathroom. Families or groups wishing to book both rooms and share the bath may do so. Please call us if you need help in booking both the Cormac and East Rooms, as we may block online access to one if the other is booked.
“The Sweetheart Room” $105
– a big room with queen bed and a cozy, protected atmosphere. It has a spacious bathroom with antique 6' clawfoot tub with hand shower. The bedroom also has antique tables and chairs, leaded glass bookcase, and dresser.
FAMILIES or GROUPS wishing to reserve ALL THREE UPSTAIRS ROOMS, sharing the two baths, may do so. The bathroom connected to the Sweetheart Room may also be accessed from the hallway under such circumstances. For large groups we can open up a fourth upstairs bedroom (and we have done so for several groups). Such groups must be comfortable with the shared bath situation. We'll make sure you have plenty of fresh towels and we'll clean the bathrooms daily.
Weekly rates are equal to five nights’ stay, and must be paid in advance.

Cancellation and Other Policies
Cancellation Policy
For reservations made with a credit card, there will be a $15 service charge per room for cancellations with AT LEAST 72 HOURS NOTICE. Deposits paid by check or cash will be refunded IN FULL by check provided 72 hours minimum notice is given. No-shows or less than 72 hours notice will result in a charge equal to the first night's room charge.
No-smoking Policy
The Simpson Hotel building and grounds are smoke-free. Smoking in a guest room will cause you to be charged a $350 cleaning fee.
Hotel Environment
We are committed to maintaining a stress-free, relaxing environment for our guests. Therefore, we ask all guests to observe the following house rules:
- After 9 pm and before breakfast, be thoughtful about voice and other noise levels, especially in hallways outside guest rooms.
- No disorderly conduct at any time.
- Children are welcome. Children under the age of 11 must be under a parent's or caretaker's supervision at all times. Noise levels must be in keeping with respect for other guests' comfort.
- Our kitchen and staff lounge are private areas and are not open to hotel guests.
- We encourage your use of our lobby and parlor for socializing as long as there is no disturbing of other guests.
- There are three robust drinking establishments within walking distance, so we refer all boisterous drinking or partying plans to one or more of those locations.
- Because of the historic nature of our hotel, we do not have televisions in the rooms. You are of course welcome to watch movies on your own player. If you are not using headphones, the volume must be kept low enough that other guests are not disturbed. You are also welcome to borrow books from our parlor library and take them to your room.
- Our wireless internet is available for your use throughout the building if you have a computer with a wireless card. Please do not do any downloads or uploads of files larger than 2MB without clearing it with us before tying up our connection. No illegal downloads under any circumstances, please.
- Absolutely no illegal use of drugs, or drug- or alcohol-impaired conduct will be tolerated.
